Wartime History
The B-24 was lost while dropping special agents of Force 136 and supplies. Also, it was looking for POW camps. All aboard died in the crash and were unaccounted for.
Wreckage
Discovered in 1996 when a group of local tribemen brought two machine guns to local police station, from the crash site near Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan.
Goh K. Loon adds:
"I joined the latest trip on January 28, 2007 to the B-24 bomber KL654 'SNAKE' wreck site in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan State with Mr. Shaharom and Mr. Sager and British Defence Attache and his assistant plus others Army Museum officers and enlisted men.
I am glad to inform you that we found the B-24 outer port engine serial number is the same as KL654 plus some personnel artifacts such as rings and jack knife and also some bone fragments.
In pic 77 u will see my head was sucked by a very huge leech. Pic 112 is the tail turret, many parts include radio were taken by an Aussie group who restore a B-24. Pic 120 is the B-24 tyre still inflated! Pic 104 you can see the "SNAKE" still barely visible."
