Mission History
Took off from Port Moresby on a mission to Wewak. Last seen gliding down with two engine shot out, but
in poor visibility, so it was unknown whether they made a successful landing.
Lt. Henrich received
a Silver Star for Gallantry in Action, posthumously.
Relative
Martha Bush (great neice)
"Henrich was not flying with his regular crew or bomber that day. His regular crew members might
still be alive, because the day he was shot down. Henrich wouldn't be hard to forget. His last trip
from Georgia to New Jersey, his home in Hackensack, he flew under the
George Washington Bridge and then buzzed his sister's house (my grandmother's).
He was a daredevil, brilliant, and a wonderful guy. Weren't they all."
