Aircraft History Built by Nakajima. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 1 Fighter Hayabusa / Ki-43-IIb Oscar manufacture number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to the 71st Sentai. No known markings or tail code. During early 1945, this aircraft was abandoned at Puerto Princesa Airfield with a pair of drop tanks attached. On February 28, 1945 this aircraft was captured when the US Army 41st Division liberated the area. Reportedly when found there was a dead body in the cockpit (or a body was placed there by American forces intentionally). Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
