Aircraft History Built by Kawasaki completed in early January 1943. True serial number 258. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 99 Light Bomber Kyu Kyu Sohkei / Ki-48-II Otsu (Lily) manufacture number 1258. Wartime History Assigned to an unknown Sentai (Flying Regiment) in New Guinea. In the field, the upper surfaces with a pair of vertical white stripe on the rear fuselage. The last two digits of the manufacture number, "58" were painted on the left side of the nose and on the upper tail. During late 1943 or early 1944 abandoned at Nubia Airfield (Hansa South) near Hansa Bay. Wreckage In early 1944, abandoned at Nubia Airfield (Hansa South) near Hansa Bay. During June 1944 this Lily was captured by Australian Army soldiers at Nubia Airfield. Afterwards, the bomber was investigted by Allied Technical Intelligence Unit (ATIU) that noted the manufacture number and removed a dataplate from a 'generator voltage regulator equipment. They did not note the tail number or any markings. Afterwards, the Lily was abandoned. Over the decades pieces were removed for scrap metal. By the early 2000, only the wing spar and lower portion of the fuselage remained.
