Wartime History Built by Consolidated Aircraft Corporation at San Diego. Constructors Number 1903. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as PBY-5A Catalina bureau number 46539. Postwar Owned by Charlotte Aircraft Corp, Charlotte, NC from 1954-1969 and registered as N1563M. It was left in the open in Elizabeth City until 1985. Display Acquired by Gary Larkins 1985-1990 and underwent a rebuilt to airworthy status in Auburn, CA and was not flown. Next, owned by Daryl Greenamyer of Van Nuys in 1990. Bruce Fenstermaker arranged for its shipped to the Indonesian Air Force Museum in 1990 as part of a a trade for export privileges for several Japanese aircraft at Babo Airfield. Restoration This Catalina was restored by the Indonesian Air Force Museum over five months. Painted in Indonesian Air Force insignia with PB-505 on the nose representing a Catalina used for coastal patrol missions. Display Since the early 1990s, displayed at the Indonesian Air Force Museum outside under a roof cover.
