Mission
History
Took off on a mission to observe Japanese warships during the battle
of Santa Cruz. Damaged by AA fire, it returned to
Graciosa Bay on Santa Cruz Island, trailing smoke. After landing, it taxied
to shore. The crew exited safely, but the plane
exploded and sank.
