Location Lat 8° 8' 30N 125° 7' 1E Malaybalay Airfield is located at an elevation of 2,051' above sea level near Malaybalay on Mindanao. Still in use today as Malaybalay Airport. Construction Single runway measuring 2,800' in length. Wartime History On May 19, 1942 several American prisoners from the POW compound near Malaybalay Lt. Charley Sneed, Winston Glover and another pilot flew two P-40 Warhawks and a Stearman biplane 76D3 from Maramag Airfield where they were captured to Malaybalay Airfield. On the ground, one of the P-40s with "Shark Mouth" markings was photographed by the Japanese. Afterwards, the planes were then flown to Davao Airfield, with the American POWs flying the P-40s and Japanese pilot Ushijima flying the Stearman.
