US Army messkit found off Finschafen inscribed 'Johnny Reed 37653204
David Pennefather adds: "Some time in the early 1980's whilst
diving at Finschhafen, I found an old aluminium mess dish, probably
American. It has what appear to be two nail holes in it so I assume
it was once nailed to something. It was: Johnny Reed 37653204
I would like to know if Mr. Reed is alive, to return his mess
kit to him. Are you Johnny Reed, or a relative?"
