    Kahili (Kihili, Kahilli, Buin) Bougainville PNG

Location
Lat 6° 47' 0S Long 155° 48' 0"  Located on the southern coast of Bougainville, near Tonolei Harbor and east of Buin. Kihili is the original local spelling of the village. During the war years, it was known as Kahili. The Japanese referred to this area as 'Buin'. To the west is Tonolei Harbor. Prewar this area was a coconut plantation.

Prewar coconut plantation. Airfield built by the Japanese. Neutralized from the air, but Japanese occupied until the end of the war.
