"The 80th FS got kills there including ace Cy Homer. A 307th
BG crew member told me every time they went to Lolobata,
the Japanese got real pissed off."

"I got this photo from Jim
Kendall of the 307th BG Long Rangers he said Japanese anti-aircraft
fire was a Problem every time they showed up it really pissed
the Japs off and 80th FS pilot Cy Homer got a Ki-43 Oscar kill
there in July 27 1944 McGuire got a kill there that day,
ace Ken Giroux from the 36FS got a Kill there on the 27th plus
several other members of the 80th FS and the 431FS also got Kills
that day and just a short distance away at the Galela drome the
Ace's from the 35th FS including Dick West knocked down 6 Jap
Tony's so July 27 was bad day for Japanese Army Aviation in the
Halmaheras."
