Sansapor

MapLat 0° 31' 0S Long 132° 4' 0E  Sansapor was the name of the village, and cape.  Middleburg Island is located just offshore, where a second American airfield was built.

History
US Army landed unapposed on July 31, 1944.  In late September elements of the 31st Infantry Division arrived from Morotai to maintain the base at Sansapor.

Airfield built by US Army at Sansapor. Also known as Mar. Used by FEAF

Cape Waios
Site of famous fight on June 8, 1944 between 17th Recon SQ B-25s and six Japanese Destroyers trying to intervene in the attack / landing on Biak. Located near Amsterdam Island in the Sansapor area of Western New Guinea.
