History
Located on the north coast of the 'Bird's head' peninsula used to be
a major airbase during Mac Arthur WWII campaign to regain the Philippines.
Remains of jetties, pontoons and other hardware can still be seen on
the otherwise quiet islands, inhabited by just a few families tending
their coconut groves. The wrecks underwater are far more interesting
for divers, as they are home to some fair-sized groupers and other large
reef dwellers.
