Tebrau

Japanese wartime airstrip.

At the end of the war, towards the end of 1945 a number of aircraft made up of Japanese Navel and Japanese Air force planes wre brought to Tebrau. The planes were flown by Japanese air-crews. British nationality markings and with the aconym ATAIU-SEA were applied to them. Their where 64 aircraft selected for shipment to the U.K. but due to limited shipping space only 4 were shipped back. Four aircraft exported to the UK, they were: a A6M5 Zero, Ki-46-III 5439, Ki-100 8476M and a Kyushu K9W1 Cypress (scrapped after accidetal fire damage).
