Location Bohol Island is located in Bohol Province in the Central Visayas (Region VII) in the Philippines. To the east is Leyte and to the north is the Camotes Sea and Camotes Islands. To the west is the the Bohol Strait (Cebu Strait) and beyond Cebu Island and Negros Island. To the south is the Mindanao Sea (Bohol Sea) to the south. Prewar During the prewar period, Cebu and Bohol were part of the Philippine Army 8th Military District. Wartime History During 1942, Japanese forces occupied Bohol Island. On April 11, 1945 the U.S. Army Americal Division landed at the southwest of Bohol and secured the island in less than two weeks against limited Japanese resistance. Contribute
