Nueva Ecija Province

Central Luzon province, with San Jose and Cabanatuan. Nueva Ecija is Spanish for 'new city'.

Guimba
Map
Lat 15° 39' 27N  Long 120° 46' 7E Town north of Cabanatuan. At daybreak January 26, 1945, advance reconnaissance units of the US Army 6th Infantry Division liberated Guimba and, within hours, established outposts nine miles farther to the east along the Licab River and La Paz.

Munoz
MapLat 15° 42' 58N Long 120° 54' 11E  Town located on the Highway 5, eight miles souh-west of San Jose. After the American landing at Lingayen Gulf, the 6th Tank Regiment, less one company was based at Munoz. After the battle of San Manuel conculded on January 28th, the American advance proceeded to Monoz.

San Jose
MapLat 15° 31' 60N Long120° 47' 60E  Town located at the intersection of Highway 5 and 8, south of Digdig. This town was the terminus of a railroad from Manila, that the Japanese were using to move troops northward into the mountains.

Lupao
MapLat 15° 52' 37N  Long 120° 53' 57E  Located four miles south-west of San Jose on Route 8. The 10th Tank Regiment, less one company was based at Lupao. Attacked by 6th Infantry Division, 35th Infantry Regiment on February 2, 1945. The 10th Tank Regiment lost 33 tanks, 26 trucks, 3 x 75mm guns and 300 casualties in the Lupao area.

San Isidor
Located four miles west of Lupao. After the American landing at Lingayen Gulf, two companies, one from the 7th Tank Regiment and one from the 10th Tank Regiment were stationed here as an outpost. While battles ranged around the town at Monoz and Lupao, the defenders were ordered to withdraw on February 5th. Occupied without opposition on February 6th.

MapRizal
Lat 15° 46' 60N  Long 120° 39' 0E  Connected by a trail to San Jose to the west. After the American landing at Lingayen Gulf was stationed a company of tanks, infantry and anti-tank guns.

Digdig
Map Lat 15° 58' 0N Long 120° 58' 0E Town located on the Highway 5, on the way towards the Caraballo Mountains and Balete Pass. On March 2, 1945 the US Army 25th Division had reached Digdig, liberating the town on the 3rd. By March 5, the highway between San Jose and Digdig is reopened and used by American forces.

Kapintalan (Capintalan)
Lat (DMS) 16° 5' 9N Long (DMS) 120° 56' 10E Town located on the Highway 5, on the way towards the Caraballo Mountains and Balete Pass. Japanese had strong prepared positions in the Kapintalan area, astride all approaches to Balete Pass area. Cacti Kapintalan Battle History. The 25th Division captured Kapintalan on April 19, 1945. After capture, the Division launched a three-pronged attack toward Balete Pass, with forces attacking east-north-east from Kapintalan, and from along the west side of Hwy 5; and from Kapintalan.

Talavera
Town north of Cabanatuan.

Lat 15° 28' 60N Long 120° 58' 0E   Town with Army camp converted into a POW Camp by the Japanese. Prisoners were liberated by US Army Ranger battalion raid on the night of January 30, 1945.
