PT Boat Base Rendova / Lumbaria Island (Todd City)
PT-Boat Squadron 9 set up base at Lumbaria Island. Named "Todd City" in honor of Ensign Leon E. Todd, Jr., USNR, O-161871 the first
PT-Boat crewman from this base Killed In Action on July 2, 1943 who was buried at sea from New Jersey. This was the primary PT Boat base in the central Solomons in the middle of 1943.
