Location
Lat 21° 1' 60N Long 105° 50' 60E  Hanoi the national capital of Vietnam in the Red River Delta Region of northern bordering the Red River (Hong River) in Vietnam. Also spelled Hà Nội, Ha No or Keicho. To the east is Co Bi (Cổ Bi) in the Gia Lâm District (Gia Lam, Gialam). Prewar and during the Pacific War, Hanoi was part of Indochina (French Indochina). Today part of Hanoi Capital Region or Hanoi Metropolitan Area in the Red River Delta Region in Vietnam (Socialist Republic of Vietnam).

Wartime History
On September 26, 1940 Hanoi was occupied by the Japanese the duration of the Pacific War until September 2, 1945 with the official surrender of Japan. Starting in early September 1942 targeted by Allied fighters and bombers until late July 1945.

Built 1899–1902 by French architects spanning the Red River (Hong River) today known as Long Biên Bridge.

Noibai Airfield (Hanoi Airfield)
Built postwar, present day international airport

Bach Mai Airfield (Bachme, Bachma)
Built 1917 used by French and Vichy French aircraft

Gia Lam Airfield (Gialam)
Wartime airfield used by Japanese Army Air Force
