Kawasaki
Ki-45 Type 2 (Nick)
Japanese nickname was Toryu
(Dragon Killer). This versatile and successful fighter followed
the trend of developing twin engine fighters, like the P-38.
Useful in ground attack and anti-shipping strikes due to its firepower.
Varying armaments included 20mm or 37mm cannons in the nose, or later in the war, upward firing cannons.
Later in the war, the plane was also used as a night fighter and B-29 interceptor with
obliquely mounted upward firing cannons behind the pilot.
