Beached Transports Under attack at Bunani Point on Guadalcanal
First bombed by SBD Dauntless dive bombers when three Japanese transport ships beached on October 15, 1942. The next day, B-17s finish them off. In the forefround is the oil slick of Sasako Maru that is already sunk. The Azumasan Maru is getting hit by another B-17's stick of bombs. That night, she slipped off the reef and sunk in 100-200' of water. The beached Kyusyu Maru is obscured by the smoke from Asumasan Maru.
