Japanese Transports Beached Attempting to Supply Guadalcanal
Yamatzuki Maru beached at Doma Cove, but is obscured in the photo by "Doma Cove". Yamaura Maru is beached near Tenaro. Kinugawa Maru (Bonegi 2) and Hirokawa Maru (Bonegi 1) are out of shot at the lower edge of the photo, nearest to Lunga Point, which is about 10 miles away. The US coastal artillery shelled and got hits on these two ships before the aircraft and USS Meade finished them off. At the top of the photo are Kyusyu Maru, Yamaura Maru.
