Ship History
Three masted ship built in Glasgow in 1869, used as an immigration ship from England to Australia.

Experienced a severe storm off Australia on April 26, 1890, damaged and towed to Sydney. Afterwards, used for coastal trade.

Around 1920, the Lock Katrine was anchored at Simpson Harbor as a coal ship, and in 1929 converted to a prison ship, and survived the 1937 volcano eruption.

Sinking History
Afterwards, towed to Kokopo area near Vunapope and sunk as a break water.

Wartime History
During WWII, the wreck was mistaken as a Japanese ship and bombed. Today, it still remains, as twisted bow and stern wreckage partially visible above water.
