Laid down at Mare Island Navy Yard October 28 1935. Launched January 12 1937 and commissioned August 14 1937.

Wartime History
After the Battle of the Coral Sea, she rescued 109 survivors of the USS Neosho AO-23 and 14 survivors of USS Sims DD-409

Sinking History
Sunk by Japanese Submarine RO-108 off Cape Cretin near Finschafen on October 3 1943.
