Ship History
Built by Consolidated Steel Corporation in Orange, Texas. Laid down January 27, 1945 as a Gearing-class destroyer. Launched 28 June 1945 as USS Meredith (DD-890) named for U.S. Marine Corps Sgt Jonathan Meredithth, the fourth Navy ship with the name, sponsored by Miss Juliette S. Kopper, great-great-great-grandniece of Sergeant Meredith.

Postwar
On June 29, 1979 aquired by Turkey and renamed TCG Savaştepe (D 348).

Fate
During 1995 broken up for scrap.
