Wartime History
Assigned to the 958 Kōkūtai (958 Air Group). No known tail number or markings. During 1943–1944 this Pete operated from Kairiru Seaplane Base off St. John's Mission (Saint John's Mission, Barakam) on Kairiru Island and flew patrols and protected convoys arriving or departing the Wewak area and patrolling as far north as the Admiralty Islands. During 1943 or early 1944 this Pete was likely damage and towed ashore then stripped for usable parts including the wings and engine then abandoned.

Wreckage
This Pete remains in situ near St. John's Mission on Kairiru Island. By the early 1970s, the fuselage aluminum skin was removed leaving only the frame and fuel tanks. The main float and wing floats are nearby. The engine and wings are not present.
