Location Werribee Airfield was located at Werribee in Victoria in Australia. Also known as Werribee Satellite Aerodrome or RAAF Werribee. Construction During 1940, land was set aside by the Australian government for use by the military. The area was developed into a grass runway for use as a satellite airfield. During 1942, several hangers and building were constructed for aircraft and personnel. Wartime History The buildings and hangers were used by U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) personnel until 1945. Afterwards, reverted to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) then disused. Today Disused since the Pacific War. Today the area is part of the Western Treatment Plant.. The two wartime hangers remain intact. The northernmost hanger on Geelong Road near Farm Road is used by B-24 Liberator Restoration Fund Inc. B-24 Liberator Restoration Fund Inc.
