Lat 133 1' 0" E Long 2 39' 0" S. Otawir Airfield was located near Otawir (Otawiri, Otawari, Ottawiri) in western New Guinea. To the northwest is Sagan. Also known as "Sagan II" or "Sagan 2", or "Otawiri" or "Otawiri". Prewar and during the Pacific War located in Dutch New Guinea (DNG) in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Between 1963–1973 part of West Irian (Irian Barat) and during 1973-2002 known as Irian Jaya. Today, located in Teluk Bintuni Regency (Bintuni Bay Regency) in West Papua Province (Papua Barat, West Irian Jaya) in Indonesia.

Built by the Japanese with a single runway measuring 4,500' x 450' by the middle of April 1944. Several taxiways were under construction at the time. Drainage ditches in the runway revealed problems with drainage for rainfall.

Wartime History
Attacked by Allied aircraft starting in early July 1944 until the end of October 1944 and netralized as an airfield. Occupied by the Japanese until the official surrender of Japan in September 1945.
