Lat 31° 22' 3N Long 130° 50' 44E  Kanoya Airfield is located at Kanoya in Kagoshima Prefecture on Kyūshū in Japan.

Built prewar by the Japanese Navy with two runways: Kanoya Airfield to the west and Kanoya East Airfield (Kanoya East) further inland to the east.

Wartime History
During 1945, Kanoya Airfield was used to launch kamikaze attacks. A total of 829 Kamikaze pilots were killed on their missions after taking off from Kanoya Airfield.

Still in use today as Kanoya Air Base used by the Japan Self Defense Force (JSDF) with two runways. The first is oriented 26L/08R measures 7,382' x 148' surfaced with concrete. The second is oriented 26R/08L measures 3,937' x 131' surfaced with concrete. Airport code: ICAO: RJFY.
