Location Lat 4° 19' 19N Long 113° 59' 12E Miri Airfield is located at Miri on the northwest coast of Borneo in Sarawak State in Malaysia. Still in use today as as Miri Airport. Wartime History Occupied by the Japanese and used as a military airfield. Starting in January 1945 attacked by Allied bombers and later fighters until neutralized by the middle of July 1945. American missions against Miri January 5, 1945–July 13, 1945 Today Still in use today as as Miri Airport and used as a civilian airport. Airport codes: ICAO: WBGR IATA: MYY. The single runway is oriented 20/02 and measures 9,006' x 197' surfaced with asphalt. Served by Air Asia, DRB-HICOM Air Cargo Express, MALINDO AIR, MASwings, Malaysia Airlines Berhad, Neptune Air, Raya and Airways Sdn Bhd. This airport is the third busiest airport in Malaysia in aircraft movements, serving over 1.5 million passengers per year and is a major hub for both MASWings and Air Asia.
