Buka Seaplane Base was located at Buka Passage off the southern end of Buka Island, Sohano Island and Bonis off the northern tip of Bougainville. Also known as Buka Passage Seaplane Base or Sohano Seaplane Base.

World War II Pacific Theatre History
Occupied by the Japanese on March 9, 1942. Used as a base area and repair facility with Buka Passage used as a seaplane take off and landing area, with moorings around Sohano Island.

American missions against Buka Passage
November 16, 1943 - June 10, 1944

Disused since the war. There is no trace of this facility.  A peir that small boats use to this day might be associated with this former base.
