Location Kiska Airfield was located near North Head and the Japanese main camp area on Kiska Island in the Rat Island Group (Rat Islands) in the Aleutian Island Chain (Aleutian Islands). Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the Territory of Alaska. Today part of Alaska in the United States. Also known as "Kiska runway" or "North Head runway". Construction During early 1943, Japanese forces began construction of a runway at this location, but was never completed due to a lack of tools and equipment. Spotted from the air by Allied aircraft by February 1943, the runway was bombed and strafed by Allied aircraft. The runway was never completed and was abandoned before the Japanese withdrew from Kiska Island. American missions against Kiska Airfield June 8, 1942–July 26, 1943 Today Disused since the war.
