Re: Another SBD Raised From Lake Michigan Bottom 6-19
Yeah, and we're STILL cleaning the mud and crud out of it! I work at NMNA in Pensacola and this last one is a BEAUTY....... It looked like you could straighten the prop, work the ding out of the wing, and fly it away! We got the wing off and it's broken down pretty well now but the most amazing thi...

Re: Replica and museum to replace Swamp Ghost
So if I read this right the sale was legal afterall? It appears it all worked out for the best, PNG will have its tourist trap and a part of American history and heritage will be preserved.

Re: Recover them Yes or No
Whether its 1 person or 1000 coming to see these wrecks, should not justify wealthy collectors coming in buying up wrecks, which for the most part cannot be restored anyway. Here in New Zealand, we have quite a few WW2 wrecks, generally only trampers get to see them, however you don't see people co...

Re: Recover them Yes or No
Wouldn't that be to expensive? I mean you could get the money back with the entrance fee from the museums but still it would be very expensive to recover all of them. And isn't it what it makes a wreck to be in the sea - or do just I see it like that ... For me it is like a grave and shouldn't we l...

Re: Recover them Yes or No
I personally think all wrecks should remain where they are, full stop! I think its quite disgusting to see collectors coming to these pacific nations buying up wrecks. I believe these wrecks should remain for all to see and experience, and to further tourism in these very poor countries. Let's hope...

Re: U.S. Naval Air Museum
Hello I am a little confused. How long has the Zero been at the Museum? The pics date back to 2003 I have been in Pensacola since 2006 and the plane has not been on display until recently and the only reason I found out about it and made another visit to the museum was due to a news article in fligh...

U.S. Naval Air Museum
Not really big news but the museum just completed restoration on a Zero and now have it on display. It is only the second Japanese aircraft on display, the other being a George still sporting a bullet hole.
Perhaps they should visit the Pacific and rescue a few more.

Re: SWAMPY GHOST QUESTION - from one who was there
Agree but then have to say that Americans must unfortunately be considered as stupid. Most the discussions on several forums were focused on how bad PNG is at preserving its WWII heritage (most of those comments came from US) and that therefore any mean (even illegal) is ok to recover wrecks from P...
