I'm hoping to ID a B-24 lost in Cactus collision
Can anyone here please help me to pinpoint the serial number, unit and any other information about a USAAF B-24 Liberator that was (probably) destroyed on the ground at Bomber I, Henderson Field, Guadalcanal on the 13th of March 1943, when No. 3 Squadron RNZAF Hudson NZ2037 swung on landing in a cro...

Does anyone know what a 'float flow' was?
Looking through the No. 1 (Bomber Reconnaissance) Squadron RNZAF Operations Record Book I have noted an entry where crews on a particular mission were briefed attackenemy 'float flows' at Green Island when they made their raid. The entry in the ORB is the 26th of November 1943 and reads exactly thus...

I thought some of you may be interested in these fascinating photos taken recently in the Chatham Islands, South Pacific, showing what is left of the RNZAF Sunderland that was wrecked there.

Yes I believe so, once the Hudsons began to be replaced in frontline service by the Ventura, soe were withdrawn for conversion to transports and then joined No. 40 Squadron to compliment the C-47's and Lodestars they operated. They ran mail services and troops transport top most of the RNZAF's Pacif...

I notice the NZ2021 page seems to now have disappeared from the database so I assume it's being corrected? As additional info to my statement above, the RNZAF converted 15 Hudsons to C-63 transport standard in late 1943 and through till mid-1944. They were: NZ2022 NZ2027 NZ2039 NZ2043 NZ2049 NZ2053 ...

Query about RNZAF Hudson page
Hi Daniel, I have been looking at your Pacific Wrecks page on the RNZAF hudson NZ2021, which was shot down into the sea off Vella Lavella. I have a few queries. One - the link to an article about a ceremony no longer works. Is it possible to get this re-instated please? I assume this was the RAAF wr...

Daniel, I cannot help regarding the pilot or exact aircraft but here is a report from 31st of August 2004 when it was discovered, which I copied down from NZ Teletext: Pig Hunter stumbles across wreck A Fijian pig-hunter has discovered the remains of what is believed to be a World War II fighter air...

There is a lot of aggro on this thread, but Clutchfan your post is absolutely ridiculous. Yes it was an American plane, American built, American crewed, Amerciand owned. Sure. And now it's been bought by an American and is going back to America. Fine. I have no problem with this. But your inflammato...
