Hello All,

I'm a retired second generation seafarer. I'm intersted in wrecks of merchant ships, particularly of the old Dollar Line, and it's successor company American President Line (APL). My father sailed before WWII with this company as Third Mate through Master. He left the company in 1941 to become a San Francisco Bar Pilot. I started sailing in 1954, after graduation from California Maritime Academy. My seagoing career was with Standard OIl of California (later Chevron). I came ashore in 1969 to become a harbor pilot in San Diego, CA, and later in Long Beach CA. I retired in 1996.

My father was chief Officer on the PRESIDENT COOLIDGE on her maiden voyage and voy #2 in 1931/32 before moving on to the command of several of the old DOLLAR liners. Coolidge is found within this website with details of her tragic loss.
