Japanese Fighter Identification?

Post by JAL »

My dad flew with the Air Transport Command, eventually called the "Brass Hat Squadron", during World War Two. On one of his flights they stopped in Manila and there was a Japanese fighter on the ground. He proceeded to remove these "Gauge Identifiers" from the instrument control panel. He said the plane was a Japanese Zero, I believe. He's no longer in the body so I can't verify that information. These items did come from the same plane, though. Any ideas on what the plane was? I went to a local Japanese restaurant to ask them what the symbols meant and they were young and even though they spoke some Japanese, the best they could come up with was oil pressure, temp gauge, but the bigger rectangular piece was the company that may have manufactured the plane.

It's a treasure hunt, huh?

Thanks

Jeffrey
