has this aircraft ever been found?
it was a douglas boston A-20G serial number 42-86748 of the USAAF 27th bombing group 5th airforce.
the pilot was F/S jones, the aircraft was flying from rockhampton in queensland to cairns in queensland on the 17th of april 1945 and last radio contact was made by the aircraft in the innisfail area 45 miles short of its destinaton.
the route was along the coast so its possible the aircraft is in the ocean but i have no idea of flightpaths used for the military at the time.
