Found this on another forun,
My Japanese wife's older brother Kiyoshi Kanai piloted a Kaiten one-man submarine on an attack on an American cruiser 16 April 45, he opened the hatch and exited after trimming the boat on-course as prescribed by IJN. A Navy tug, USS Sioux detonated the boat and rescued him. Emiko won't talk to him, not because he jumped but because she cared for her mother, brothers and sisters alone
