Capt Floyd Pell and 33rd Pursuit Squadron (Provisional)

Post by Boba »

In 1941 Captain Floyd Pell carried out a survey of airfields and facilities over northern Australia and a report was prepared. I did have a copy but it is back in Darwin. Does anyone have this report or any information on the 33rd Pursuit Squadron (Provisional) which was later commanded by then Major Pell?

I do have Gordon Birkett's paper (among a host of other material) on the early P-40 operations but I am looking for further detail in order to prepare a complete history of the 33rd and its short lived operational career - in effect a 30 minute combat history over Darwin on 19 February 1942 in which the unit was decimated, losing four pilots killed and nine aircraft lost of ten involved.

Any material acknowledged and with thanks in advance,

Cheers,
