Hey mate, I will be in truk from 20 July to the 11th of aug, then heading off to Bikini after that for a 2 week charter (http://petemesley.com/Bikini.htm) . Have a look at my site on http://www.petemesley.com/truklagoon.htm I have a lot of information about the wrecks. The best thing is to get Dan Baileys book to do some research before you go. You can get his book from his site directly http://www.northvalleydiver.com/ It is by far one of the best resource information I have ever seen. This will really help you manage to separate the "Morning Maru's" from the "Afternoon Maru's"

My biggest advice I tell to everyone who heads there is, As long as you resign to the fact that you will be back again (might not be for 1, 3, 5, 10 years) then it wont be your "Once in a lifetime" trip. When you acknowledge this, immediately you will not try and see everything, and therefore appreciate what you do see. Truk seems to be a tick-the-box destination and people try and dive 40 wrecks in a 2 week period! They end up seeing nothing with the only focus on what the next wreck is going to be!! There are some real quality wrecks, that deserve your attention. Depending on your training and level of experience there is something there for everyone. If you want to email me privately I can send you more information. There are about 18 deeper wrecks that just dont get dived. Those are the ones that I like to spend most of my time on.

If you want to wet your appetite check out some of my pictures on my photo site. http://petemesley.photoshelter.com/gallery-list

Enjoy! Its a great destination.

Kind regards

Hi there,
I am going through Guam. I would be really interested to hear what intel you have on the wreck diving in Guam. What depths, condition of the wrecks, proximity etc

NOrmally on the way home I have to spend a night in Guam, so end up just chilling out with no diving. but if the diving is any good then I will certainly think about it in the future.

regards

Pete - I live in Guam for the moment and visited Chuuk last month. There are several wrecks here, mostly in Apra Harbor that are very easy dives. Vis is outstanding typically, but the wrecks hardly will compare to what you'll see in Truk. As far as wrecks, Guam's biggest claim to fame is the SS Cormoran and the Tokai Maru - Guam is the only place in the world where a can diver on 2 ships from 2 different countries sunk in 2 World Wars in the very same spot. There are 2 main dive shops here, MDA (http://www.mdaguam.com/) and GTDS (www.gtds.com/) Both are great shops, though MDA seems to be a bit more popular. You can find boat schedules on both sites. Lastly, check out www.scubaguam.com for descriptions of the most popular dive sites. Enjoy Truk, I did 5 days on the SS Thorfinn and thoroughly enjoyed it.

all the best
