A family member will be layed to rest in Arlington in August. He has come home after finally being identified. He was killed on Aug 19, 1942 on the Canal. He was a member of L Company, 5th Marines. He was killed at the village of Matanikau. He was a platoon Sargent, 3 other KIA's including LT. He was hastily buried and remains not recovered until 1992. Still no identification on the remains, 2004 an islander has a ring found with remains, ring has initials and search ended with DNA identification of our cousin. We are looking for anyone that was in L company on the Canal. Thanks for your help.
