Hello,
I am researching a relative that is MIA from dated 12/26/1944. He was with the 17th Reconnaissance Squadron (B) that was attached to the below unit. This units flight records show the unit to be designated as follows:
5th AAF, 91st rcn, 71st rcn, 17th Rcn Sqd (B)
My man's B25 was shot down off San Juan, Mindoro 12/26/44. I have requested from Maxwell AF base his, Unit Histories, War Diaries, Daily Reports, Station Memorandum, Special Orders and Loading Lists for the time period of June 1st 1944 to February 28th 1945. On another side,,I am researching his unit because it was involved battle with the last aggressive Japanese naval task force of WWII.
Anyone know anything please let me know. Or If I can help anyone, let me know.
Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom,
I'm assuming you are referring to B-25D 42-87297 - Crew details below:
2/Lt William N Hatcher, O-764991 (KIA - Buried Hawaii)
1/Lt Virgil S Johnson, O-764954 (MIA)
1/Lt Lawrence R Hertweck, O-765491 (MIA)

S/Sgt Edward J Krigier, 32732938 (MIA)
S/Sgt Herbert C Hedgecock, 38405264 (MIA)
I understand that B-25D 42-87296 of the 71st TRG was also lost that day.

Hi Tom
The Missing Aircraft Report number for the loss of 42-12697 is 12603, which is held in the National Archives in Washington DC.
I can also confirm that the unit lost another B-25 on the same day, 42-87296.
