On June 17, 1943 P-39 aircxraft the last action, Captain William D. Wells led Airacoba into a formation of thirty to thirty-five Aichi D3A Type "99Val" Carrier bombers and shot down four. He earned the Silver Star Medal per GO 341, dated 15 November 1943.
AF Is denying the daughter replacement of the medal due to lack of unit be identified on the WD AGO Form 66-1.
Any information would be appreciated regarding Captain Wells.
