AM1c Conrad Hugh Lawrence

Post by JuliaForeman »

I am looking for any information on Aviation Metalsmith First Class Conrad Hugh Lawrence. He was a member of the US Navy during WWII. His last known status was missing and presumed dead on Dec 04 1945. The family story is that he was on a plane and it simply disapeared. I do have a source that says he went missing about Oct 05 1942. The source says that he was lost in action in Quada Canal (Might be Guadalcanal?). I do not know any other information on my great-uncle and I do not know where to look. Any information or guidance would be greatly appreciated. This has always been a family mystery.

I've checked the American Battle Monuments Commission website which lists Aviation Metalsmith First Class Conrad H Lawrence, 2684369 (USN) as believed killed on December 4, 1945. He had been awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

At the moment I don't have any other information, though "Quada Canal" would probably refer to Guadalcanal.
