   Interview with Phil Bradley

JT  Tell us a little about your father's WWII service.


PB  My father was Jack Bradley of the 2/27th Battalion AIF (all 2nd AIF battalions had a 2 in front). He ended up a Sergeant, but at the stage the photo was taken he was probably still a private. His first action was in New Guinea at Shaggy Ridge.

  He later also fought in Borneo during the assault on the Balikpapan oil fields. Sadly he died when I was only a boy but I have got much closer to understanding him by talking to his former mates.
