Jean-Claude Tranape  Vanuatu & Dog Tag
A small rest on the beach. The wing of an unknowed plane is use as a back for the seat (A good exemple of recycling metal by the native people)
We find a lot of knife, spoon, broken plate and glass, and also buckles of belts, keys of any kinds, badges, small cross. It is here on this beach that the two dog tags were found. The white spots that you see on the beach were the broken plate and glass. We project to will come back on this beach in october of this year with the agreement of the natives peoples.
Look at the dark stone behind Jérôme. It is not a stone, but a kind of hard concrete made by all kinds of things of metal. If you break it, you can find spoon, knife, or dog tags if you are lucky.
It is the end of the beach. Nice colour, isn't it. Rear the picture, you can see the rest of an old American warf.
The surname of this man is Ruben. He found the dog tag, that you can see around his neck. He is very proud to be taken in picture. We explained to him, that he will be on internet and seing by the whole of the world. He give me the dog tag, and hope that it will be possible to find the owner.
This is the dog tag found: KESTING HAROLD .F 234 65 55 0 - T9 41 USN
Waiting the boat to cross the Port Havannah bay". We are on an old American warf. We dive here long time before. I remember we have seen some wing of plane and a gigantic anchor. The position is S 17°34,094 E168°16,248. The boys you can see were very interested by our search, principaly "Kalo" (the second boy on the left side). They like to speak tu us. They were very nice and helped us very much.
The boat is coming. It is approximatively half past twelve on this sunday 15th of july 2001. We meet them one day before. "Paul KALSEV" was the captain of the boat. He was escorted by his brother "Camille" and by a friend "Daniel JOHN"
During the cross of the bay, my son Jérome speak to the captain about the wreck of the plane that we will have to seen. The contact was very well because "Jérome", who was born at Vanuatu, speak very well the language of "Bichelamar" or "Pidgin". This language is a mixture of english, french and spanish.
: We arrived on a nice sand beach were start the way to the plane.
On the way "Paul" shows us a cave. He said to us that the American use it during the WW2. Jerome give a look and said to us that the cave is deep, but he has no light to see more. We will return to explore it, next time in October.
A small rest in the center of the island. The pool of water behind is use by the wild cattle. Near, "Paul, Camille and Daniel" show to us a special rare and uncommun sandal tree. The heart of this wood is use for scent.
