Location Massacre Bay borders the southern coast of Attu Island in the Aleutian Island Chain (Aleutian Islands) in Alaska in the United States of America (USA). Wartime History On May 11, 1943 the U.S. Army Southern Landing Force lands at Massacre Bay and advanced to the northwest towards the Jarmin Pass to link up with the Northern Landing Force on May 17-18 at Holtz Massacre Pass while others advance northward towards Chichagof Harbor. On April 11, 1945 P-38 Lightnings with U.S. Navy (USN) planes detected a Japanese "balloon bombs" over Attu and shoot down one balloon over Attu.
