Location
Amoy 厦门 is located on Xiamen Island (Amoy Island) off the southeast coast of China. Borders Amoy Harbor and the Taiwan Strait. In Chinese, Amoy means "High Ridge" Known to the Japanese as "Takasaki" (High Ridge). Also known as Xiamen.

Wartime History
During the Second Sino-Japanese War, occupied by the Japanese during May 1938. Occupied by the Japanese Army until the end of World War II.

Postwar
During October 1949, occupied by Communist forces.

Amoy Harbor
Borders Amoy. Used during the war by Japanese shipping.
