Penrhyn Island is located in Penryn Atoll. Also known as Tongareva, Mangarongaro, Hararanga, or Te Pitaka.

Wartime History
The U.S. code name for Penrhyn was "Ostler". During July 1942, the first American aircraft landed at the atoll, a PBY Catalina. American troops landed on November 8, 1942. The camp near Penrhyn Airfield was “Camp Durant”, or “Point Durant Camp". The last American forces departed Penrhyn Island on September 30, 1946.
