El Salvador (Republic of El Salvador)
El Salvador is located in Central America. Officially the Republic of El Salvador. Borders Honduras to the northeast, Guatemala to the northwest and to the south the Pacific Ocean. The national capital and largest city is San Salvador.

El Salvador was an American ally and during the 1950s, the Fuerza Armada de El Salvador (FAS) received U.S. military aid including World War II era fighter aircraft including F4U Corsairs and FG Corsairs.

On July 14, 1969 began the brief Football War (Soccer War, Hundred Hours' War, 100 Hour War) when the Salvadoran military launched an attack against Honduras. During the night of July 18, 1969 a cease fire was negotiated that took full effect on July 20, 1969. Both sides used World War II era fighter aircraft including F4U/FG Corsairs and P-51D Mustangs, T-28 Trojans, AT-6 Texans and C-47 Skytrains that were supplied by U.S. as foreign aid to both nations.
