Cape Soeadja is located forms the northern end of Humbolt Bay (Yos Sudarso Bay) on the north coast of western New Guinea. Prewar and during the Pacific War, located in Dutch New Guinea (DNG) in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Between 1963-2007 part of Irian Jaya. Today located in Jayapura Regency in Papua Province in Indonesia.
Liberated by the U. S. Army in late April 1944. Afterwards, the Americans established a replacement camp at this location. On January 12, 1945 after Japanese submarine I-47 conducted a Kaiten mission in Humbolt Bay, the crew nicknames Cape Soeadja "Cape Kongo" in honor of the "Kongo" group of Kaiten pilots.
