Previously, seventeen Allied prisoners were executed, and afterwards buried (later exhumed to be cremated). On August 15, 1945 after Emperor Hirohito announced the surrender of Japan the remaining sixteen American prisoners held at this location by the Kempeitai were taken to a nearby field at Aburayama where they were stripped naked and hacked to death with swords, then their bodies cremated afterwards. Those executed included:

1st Lt. Louis J. Winiechi, Jr., co-pilot B-25J 44-31300
1st Lt. Richard S. Lane, navigator B-25J 44-31300
SSgt Robert W. Goulet, engineer B-25J 44-31300
SSgt William Cohen, radio B-25J 44-31300
